Introduction
From earliest times, people have used fabrics of various types for covering, warmth, personal adornment, and even to display personal wealth. Today fabrics are still used for these purposes and everyone is an ultimate consumer. Depending upon weather we use different types fabric such as we use woolen for winter, cotton for summer etc. We also use umbrella and raincoat to protect us from rain. These are also made from other types of fabric which are commonly called Textile. Here these two words Textile and Fabric makes us confuse. Now we are going to differentiate between these two words to make us clear.

Textile and Fabric differences
Textile
Though by actual meaning it defines woven fabric, it can be defined as the woven or knittedfabric made from yarn. It can also be applied to fibre, yarn, fabric or any other product made from these combinations. It is also associated with clothing production. The raw material of textile is fibre which may be natural, man-made or regenerated.

Fabric
Fabrics are the products made by using different techniques such as weaving, knitting, crocheting etc. Most of the fabrics are knitted or woven, but there is also another type of fabric named non-woven fabric. Non-woven fabrics are produced by braiding, felting, twisting. However, all around the globe, fabric refers to the cloth that is used for making dresses.

Difference between Textile and Fabric

Textile
Fabric
It can be made from fibre, yarn or fabric or their combination.
It can be made from fibre (non-woven) or yarn (by weaving or knitting).
It is a broader term applied to the entire clothing industry.
It is a general term used for clothing.
Literally, it means woven fabric coming from a Latin word taxere.
It is a piece of cloth used for making dresses.
It may be a finished or unfinished product. It has no specific use.
It is a finished product. It has specific use such as cloth for shirting.
All textiles are not fabrics.
All fabrics are textile.
